Dr. Saville's Academic Path

Dr. Alphonso F. Saville, IV is a historian, author, and educator dedicated to exploring the intersections of religion, race, and society. He serves as Assistant Professor of American Religious History and Mission at Union Presbyterian Seminary and is the author of The Gospel of John Marrant: Conjuring Christianity in the Black Atlantic, a groundbreaking study of Black religious expression and resistance. His research and teaching focus on African American religious history, the legacies of slavery, and the role of Christianity in shaping public life.
